Hydrophonic Records New Single With Starita

Filed Under: News, Sessions by staritasf — Leave a comment
May 2, 2012

Hydrophonic is a 4 piece powerhouse of hard driving rock and roll that’s been making waves since the 2011 release of their EP Beached. The team recorded Beached with Starita over the course of 5 days pulling out every production stop adding layers and layers of face melting guitars and vocals.

This time, the band came to Starita wanting a new direction and vibe to take their new single, Friends Like These, to a new level of confidence and power. With a little brainstorming they decided to go back to their roots and record everybody….same place, same time in the famous live room at Hyde Street Studio C.

The entire event was captured by Babylon’s Train so, stay tuned for a teaser……..

From 300K hits on his latest single, Body Rock, to opening for Lil John at Sundance Film Festival, DeLon is no stranger to the stage. Starting off as a DJ at a young age, DeLon found his passion in music and never stopped learning the skills of music production and MCing along the way.

Starita tracked several of the same songs of off “Something Out of Nothing” for a series of Bandpage Sessions at Freq Lab Recording last week for an upcoming release.

Press Event To Honor Hyde St. Studios This Wednesday, April 25th

April 24, 2012

Hyde St. Studios is arguably the most historic recording studio in the Bay Area hosting such artists as The Grateful Dead, Santana, Primus, 2pac, Creedance Clearwater Revival and 2pac just to name a very small few.

This was where I started my career almost 15 years ago when I first moved to San Francisco and still work out of there till today. I am proud to call it one of my homes and happy to announce this event.

On Wednesday, April 25th, Hyde Street Studios will host a press event and plaque dedication organized by the Uptown Tenderloin Museum. The event will honor the building’s history as a recording studio as well as eight other Tenderloin landmarks.

A wonderful plaque has been installed that focuses on historic recordings by The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and other famous artists from the Wally Heider Recordings period (1969-1980). Among those to speak at Tuesday’s event is Stephen Barncard, producer of the Grateful Dead’s American Beauty and other historic albums.

Wednesday’s event is set to start at 11am. We will be having an open studio with tours and refreshments. Please join us to celebrate the rich history of our studio and neighborhood!

April 16, 2012

Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds is at it again with his project, Roughneck, which includes members of Ozomatli and Jazz Mafia.

Eddie has graced many of the world’s greatest stages from New Orleans Jazzfest and Bonnaroo to Red Rocks Amphitheater.

In chatting with Eddie a couple of months ago, he explained his vision of having a DJ lay Moodyman-esque beats and old jazz cuts while he and the other members grooved there jazz funk magic over top. Sounds like an amazing match up if I’ve ever heard of one! You never know, Roughneck may be in the studio with Starita soon;-)

Go check them out at Brick and Mortar THIS WEDNESDAY, APRIL18th!

Support Hydrophonic’s Kickstarter!!!

HYDROPHONIC is a psychedelic hard rock band featuring Corey Largent (lead guitar/vocals), Sam Lowther (rhythm guitar, backup vocals), Zack Newman (bass guitar) and Shawn Stein (drums).

In April of 2011 they independently released their debut EP BEACHED, a heavy 6 track riff-and-groove effort that I had the pleasure of engineering and producing. It has seen local success in newspapers, music shops and live arenas.
They recently performed at the Team McCready Global Fundraiser Event in Los Angeles in honor of Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready to raise money for the nonprofit organization Advocacy for Patients With Chronic Illness.
They are looking to go back into the studio in early May to record a new single  entitled Friends Like These. The release of Friends Like These is one of many projects they have scheduled under the direction of their new management team at Moxy Media, led by Laura Trafton.
They will be opening for Flight to Mars, a tribute to 1970s English heavy rockers UFO featuring Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready, on Sunday, May 20th at The Independent in San Francisco!
Contribute to this Kickstarter so you can say you were part of this revolution!!!!
